Diamonds are forever.

Scuba dresses are easily the warmest dress you could don during the final months of winter. I should know. I have three of them. In fact, I scooped up this one for $7 from H&M. I adore the vibrant colors and pattern. This is a great, classic option as well.

About today's theme. Diamonds are forever. Just like the print on my dress. Just like the glamorous earrings I cloaked my ears in. More on that later...there's something in it for you, too!

Be like Zoe.

I'm a firm believer that one always looks pulled together in all black. Even when it's been over five nights of no sleep due to a nasty virus. Yes, tis true folks...my kids were sick yet again last week. I really feel like we've paid our dues to this year's virus strands. Who gets back to back flu virus'?

Calgon take me away. And book me a vacation, thank you very much.

Accessorizing your work life.

Just like anything in life, an organized home office leads to a more productive Johanna. I can say this having worked from home over the last 12 years. The brighter, more vibrant my work accessories are...the happier I am. Dare I say that I am more efficient with colorful pens, notebooks and coasters?!

The fact is, working from home can feel somewhat like an isolated island. That's why it's important for me to have fun in the process and most importantly, stay inspired. Colors do me good! Especially now that I've started my own brand.

5 must-have layering pieces

When it comes to transitioning into another season, I find that Midwesterners really get the short end of the stick. Particularly in Chicago. One day it's 45 and the next day it's -2. There's an old joke that goes something like this: "You know you're a Chicagoan if you turn on your AC in the morning and your heat by the evening." I'm anticipating this in about another 30 days.

The great thing about fluctuating temps is that it forces us fashionistas to take a long, hard look at our closets. It's also the perfect opportunity to perfect our layering skills. Today, I've rounded up my top five layering pieces to help you gracefully enter a new season of fashion...snow, sleet, rain or shine! (and here are five skirts you need in your closet right now!)

Biker chic.

Let's kick things off! Happy Wednesday!

First off, I wanted to thank you for the many comments, emails Facebook + Instagram comments and personal emails I received yesterday. It was in a word: inspiring and motivating. Most of all, it was deeply appreciated. This is a giant, scary, exhilarating step but the timing is right and the opportunities are a-plenty.

I quit my job. (and why it was worth the risk)

"Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will."

As a young girl, I was acutely aware of the fact that I wanted to be the boss. I saw my dad work tirelessly at his business and in turn, my family reaped the benefits of his work ethic. We attended great schools, traveled abroad and had the ability to pursue our passions be it tennis, soccer or ballet.

Fast forward to the present tense. I've had more career highs than career lows but none of that was based on luck or hand outs. It's because I knew, albeit a bit of an old school philosophy, that if I worked hard at anything the rewards would soon follow. And they did.

Camel cozy.

This whole mercury in retrograde has posed for a very interesting February. I'm going to get really honest with you this week about some transitions going on in my life but that's for another day; another post.

So...another holiday in and out. Whenever Valentine's Day is over, I always kind of look at February as being done. It's such a short month. Truly, we are inches from March and that gives me tremendous hope for SPRING! We're almost there, people!
