Detail oriented.

So about that Spring...ummm, I really am excited. I swear. It's just this dress. I had to break it out. Sure, it looks like a basic black dress but really, it's all about the details. The subtle draping, the inverted hem, the perfect jersey material. It's the black dress I've been waiting for my whole life.

Budget Babe: 12 under $50!

I'm so excited to switch out my wardrobe and move in a different direction. I'm still on a neutral kick, which, I'm enjoying because I know brights are around the corner!

The last Budget Babe we shopped was back in February and what a difference a month makes! Ditch the jackets, sequins and buffalo check for a fresher outlook! As always, I vow to find trendy, sophisticated pieces that won't break your piggy bank - always under $50!

So clean, so fresh.

This weekend brought a smile to my face. Warm temps, windblown hair and plenty of fresh air. We celebrated St. Patrick's Day, too which is kind of funny considering we are not Irish. As my husband said, "If you live in Chicago, everyone is Irish this weekend."

Spring shoe makeover

Each season I assess my shoe wardrobe and weed out the ones that don't fit my lifestyle anymore.

Maybe that heel was just a little too high and I convinced myself it would work. Nope!

Maybe I'll learn to love that platform shoe. Nope!

Maybe I'll wear flats more. Nope!

Wedge sandals are coming back, right? Nope!

The list goes on. It's a healthy purge process and the actual "purging" has decreased over the years. I think I'm finally at an age where I know what looks good on me, what's stylish but not too trendy and where I will get the most ROI.

Creature comforts.

I find comfort in routine while I totally thrive off change. It's confusing isn't it?

Ever since I transitioned out of my FT job and into creating my own company, there's a weight that has been lifted. Not that I was carrying around a burden working at my other job...quite the opposite. I really liked my last job, however; there's a certain pleasure I've discovered in creating my own days...quotas...plans.

It's the first time in over a decade that I feel a tremendous calm and I'm reveling in it. I love tapping into my creative side again.
