One of my favorite gifts this Christmas was this faux jacket from my husband. It's the perfect amount of attitude when you're lacking outfit inspiration or it's just freezing. Readers...meet Chicago. Chicago...meet the readers.

I bought this vintage dress years ago from a boutique that is sadly no longer in business. I often think about donating it but then I hesitate. For once, hesitation worked in my favor. This coat literally breathed new life into it. See...I'm really trying to reduce, reuse, recycle.

Conversations with Olivia.

I mentioned this in my NYE learnings + epiphanies - sometimes we wonder if Olivia is truly hilarious or if all 4-year olds are just funny in general. The stuff she comes up with kinda shocks me further proving that she will one day be way smarter than I and probably rule the world.

Which is good because I will for sure be exhausted by then!

Queen of Hearts

Officially...this will be my Valentine's outfit. Typically not a floral person of sorts; I simply adore the large scale flowers on this dress. And the voluminous skirt = major fun!

The only challenge I had was finding a topcoat that wouldn't complete with the structure of the dress. Leopard saves the day...again!

How to style a sweatshirt and still look chic!

Styling a sweatshirt has never been more fashionably accepted as it is today. The key is wearing fitted separates so you don't look like a college kid rolling out of your dorm late for class.

Layer upon layer.

Polar Vortex has reared her ugly head again this winter and I'm layering up in preparation. You see, it's all about dressing smarter, not harder. ...errr something like that.

Truth is, I go through spurts. I just completed my denim spurt hence I'm craving skirts and dresses. Natch, in -11 temps.

The Money Pit Series: Lola's Big Girl Room

The Money Pit Series is back! This round is all about my baby turned big girl. Lola finally kicked her crib to the curb and upgraded to this bright, whimsical bed that our entire family just adores.

We now gravitate to her room because of the warmth her room evokes. It's amazing what a bed does for a little girl. Lola is so proud of her room that she actually wanders upstairs when no one is noticing just to sit and read books. Something that really warms a parent's heart, I tell ya.

Budget Babe: 10 under $50

Well hello fashionistas! Today is the first installment of my Budget Babe series in 2015. I didn't post any in December because let's face it...we all shopped our brains out, myself included.

There are so many sales to be had it's enough to make a girl's head spin. And if you shop wisely, you can fill your closet voids easily with luxe staples and fun accessories -- all under $50, thank you very much! (even though it's tempting to jump straight to Spring fashion, Chicago temps have gently reminded me that we have a ways to go!)
