Hostess.

This year we hosted Christmas. Our house was filled with homemade smells that I just adore. It's my favorite part of hosting a dinner party.

One thing I've learned over the years is the importance of being comfortable when you are whipping up appetizers, shuttling dishes and pouring wine for your guests. I always opt for a dress in these situations. Movement is key as well as having room to grow.

I'm still in a fog from all the calories I consumed!

Vested.

Here's a little piece of trivia. Guess what time it was when these pictures were taken? I'll tell you - 4:00pm. Yep, hello winter solstice. We had to use the flash for Pete's sake!

When in doubt, shift it out.

I've mentioned before that my husband is slightly more preppy or perhaps traditional than I, right? Well, he is. And that's cool. He favors the J.Crew meets Vineyard Vines kinda girl. I can be that once in awhile.

Ok, truth. I love me a good shift dress and vibrant colors. When I saw this paisley print dress, I knew it was coming home with me. And it did. I am a woman of my word.

"That's so clutch" - 5 holiday clutches for your repertoire.

So. I realize I talk about handbags and shoes quite a bit. As exhibited here. It's my vice so bear with me. (most are dream wish lists and what's a blog if not an escape, right people?!) Anyway...back to the situation at hand.

I'm sure you are in the throws of holiday parties like me. Today, for example, I have meetings in the city which means I carry my work tote all day. When the clock strikes 5 o'clock I have to gracefully pull a switch-a-roo into party attire and look flawless while doing it. Not an easy feat.
