Fearless Friday: Ryan Beshel

Cultivating new friendships is a lot like dating. Such is the case with Ryan Beshel. I think we met on the event circuit but I couldn't be 100% sure. The first thing that stood out about him was his laugh. It was infectious. I think you can tell a lot about someone by their laugh...or if they don't laugh at all. Bad sign. And I heard that laugh from across the room at every event I went to. I didn't know who he was but I was pretty sure we needed to be friends. Superficially, he was a smart dresser, too. This is a rarity amongst men in Chicago. (do not get me started!)

Groovy.

I had a conversation about karma last night with a few blogger friends. One of the true gifts of this hobby. We chatted about the industry and how it's changing and of course, the people in it. It's interesting...with all the crazy things happening in this world...there is still a disconnect in supporting one another. Specifically amongst women. This topic is such a head scratcher for me because we all have something unique to bring to the table. Why not celebrate that vs. worry SO much about what our peers are doing?

The thing about pineapples is...

they always make you happy. Name an instance when you saw a pineapple print and didn't smile. Can't think of one can you? It's summer's happy fruit!

I was a smitten kitten when I spotted this pineapple number and the rest is history! You can never have too many dresses.

Everyone wants to be a bad ass babe and the term "girlboss" has become slightly overused, myself included, but it's rare to actually meet a female entrepreneur who can reinvent herself multiple times and truly embody both terms. Meet Jennifer.

I have admired her from afar for quite some time. Heck I even pitched her in my former job. She owns an amazing restaurant on the north side...but she's so much more than a restauranteur.

Another mother just informed me today that this week is the last week of gymnastics for the girls. Since I am always on top of my game; this came as no surprise...NOT! What? The last week of camp? That means summer is coming to a close which is just utterly depressing!

Tuesday loves.

I've become fashion lazy. Opting for dresses and slides seems to be about all I can muster in this heat but that's not a complaint. I love it. Lazy, hazy summer days somehow force me to stress less...probably because I am working less in the evenings. It's a wonderful thing.

Another weekend for the books! How was yours?

Ours was anything but laid back but I'm still grateful for some time off because it is truly Monday! As soon as I looked at my phone this morning, I immediately wanted to slam it back down vs. face a mountain of emails and logistics that I have cut out for me today. Monday, you are quite the heel, I tell ya.

Fearless Friday: Samantha Berngard

I've known Sam for a year now. That's not to say we weren't in the same room or events previously, but in terms of really knowing her...for sure the last year. And the more I get to know her, the more awestruck I am with her real, genuine character. She's not just a pretty girl with brains...she's one of the girls everyone wants to be friends with because she makes eye contact with you and is ACTUALLY listening to what you're saying. Novel, I know. She's warm, funny and laid back. The formula for just an awesome person.
