Mommas...Lean in, I'm CHIME'ing in about date night!
You may recall my New Year's resolutions but if not...check 'em out here. I'll hit fast forward...one of them was to incorporate date night into our monthly routine more regularly. Which is not entirely hard to do when your starting from 0.
Luckily, there's a new kid on the block, or should I say "babysitter", that's changing the way us parents procure safe, reliable childcare so that we can get a little adult time. I'm talking about Chime! You probably remember Sittercity, right? Well they created a new site that over 3M+ parents use for reasons like mine! We all like to dress up every once in awhile, right?!
Chime sitters are hand-picked and undergo a strict vetting process, which includes an application, in-person evaluation, enhanced background check, identity verification and social media screening. Only about 1 in 5 make the cut! Parents can view each sitters experience, review ratings from other parents, along with video interviews before they book.
The best part? There are no subscription fees and Chime is completely commitment-free. That's a breath of fresh air, eh? Booking and payment are completed through Chime's website or app. Could they make it any more convienent for us? Finally - no ATMs on the cab ride home - rejoice! And here's the best part...favorite sitter's information can be saved, so you can book again. "Easy peasy, lemon squeezy" as Olivia would say!
What are you waiting for? Use my code and try it for yourself: 101THINGS. It's worth a $100 credit! The code is good for first-time Chime users only.
I've always known my roots were Polish but I never knew much beyond that. And that worked for many, many years. When all of these DNA kits launched, I'll admit. I wasn't that interested. My fair skin and blonde hair pointed me in the direction of Eastern European and Scandinavian. Done. Enough said.
I feel like life is moving at the speed of sound and with it...my blog has been sitting in the corner weeping for more frequency. I am TRYING but man, this time of year is intensely busy. I decided to do an Instagram round up of all the goodness we are experiencing this month and last month.
Friday marked the kiddos' Second Annual Daddy/Daughter Dance. AKA: a chance for mom to get her nails done and order in sushi. Magic!
Despite the 90 degree temps, we're feelin' Fall in a major way. I also see 60 degree forecasts ahead so don't put those sweaters away just yet!
Last week I had the pleasure of collaborating with Chicago Parent in sharing our favorite pumpkin inspired recipe. There are SO many pumpkin recipes out there - it's enough to make your head spin and I truly prefer the less sugary, artificial taste that so many beverages leave you with. Yick! Instead, we create a new spin on our morning smoothie. I'd love to share it with you!
We loved this book! I've read it weekly to my kids as there is so much "new" in their little lives with teachers, classrooms, routines and new friends. But it's a bit of a role reversal because this books is all about prepping their teachers for a rad school year. Meet this week's Brightly Book is: How to Get Your Teacher Ready. This Land's End weekly book recommendation also seems custom tailored to our little family. Here are the cliff notes:
School has begun! What a whirlwind week y'all! Happy to report that both kiddos seem happy and well adjusted. Let's all hi-5! Speaking of hi-5's, Dad chose this week's book reco as his favorite by far. And you'll see why. This week's Brightly Book is: Magic Tree House: A Big Day for Baseball. This Land's End weekly book recommendation also seems custom tailored to our little family. Here are the cliff notes:
We loved loved loved this week's Brightly Book: We're All Wonders. It explores the differences in all of us which came at a tremendous time as my girls have been incredibly inquisitive about hair color, skin color and beyond. This Land's End weekly book recommendation also seems custom tailored to our little family. Here are the cliff notes:
We are through and through a Seuss family. I was so excited when my girls quickly adopted this author's books into their little bedroom libraries. And let's be honest...they are an easy read on the days when you've been put through the ringer in life and as a parent. I am nothing if I am not brutally honest!
School is coming up so quick we can smell it! Let's just say we've been spending a LOT of extra time reading at night to wipe off the cobwebs. It's good to get back to our roots and the girls are enjoying a little mom and dad time sans television which...here, here to that!
