#MemorialDay Favorite: Ripped Jeans

Last week I talked about some of my favorite Summer shoe staples. Today, in honor of Memorial Day, I'm talking denim, distressed denim that is. I live in denim. Completely and totally. This look would be my go-to ensemble. Slight variation on a theme, but this look ranks a close second.

I love that ripped jeans (find options here) are now classy when paired with the right shoe. So many fits to choose from including that hot, white pair of flares above to skinny to boyfriend. Us chicks have a lot of options now! I find myself gravitating towards denim more than ever because it's truly become feminine and chic.

My clear favorite is this pair of Rag & Bone flares. Throw on your best breton striped shirt and you're as chic as they come.

I know I was all "Spring is here" last week but the weather gods played different this past weekend. What you see is what you get and rain calls for black in my books. Don't you agree?

I realized something about myself over the long weekend. My aesthetic has changed once again. I'll always be an early adopter of trends but I now know, in my late 30's, what works on my body. I can pick out the versatile pieces that will allow me to mix and match 2-3 different outfits vs. being limited to one look. While I've had a lot of fun with fashion, I decided it was time to trim my closet of the unnecessary and execute a major Poshmark Holiday Clean-Out. The perk? Mint condition items that have barely been worn at bargain pricing for you guys!

Monday's call for a little swing don't you think? At least they do in my books which is why this Akira fringe vest seemed like a necessity after a busy Fall weekend. In all honesty, I've become somewhat addicted to jackets + coats in general. Frankly, I think it's completely warranted given how long our winters are. Am I right, girls?

One of the coolest things about where I live is the dozens of small towns that surround me. Each of them quaint and full of personality in their own rite. Makes for really fun backdrops and interesting scouting sessions with my husband...who has become our very own Terry Richardson.

With Summer Solstice just a few days away, it's only fitting that my mind wanders to lazy, beachy Saturday's with the family. Luckily, there's no shortage of cute swimsuit options out there and the cover ups are even more adorable if that's possible!

There's nothing better than Summer dressin'. It's infinitely easier to get dressed...don't you think? Less clothing makes everyone happier I suppose. Men included!
