My May...depicted via Instagram.
May is such a fun month...officially kicking off summer! The kids are done with school, I had a fantastic Mother's Day, an even better birthday and we even squeezed in a vacation to Hilton Head. May is always my favorite month (wink, wink) Can I get three cheers for bathing suits + popsicle weather?

We just returned from a long weekend away with the kids and it was everything we didn't know we needed; not to mention perfect timing before school starts. I can't believe we have a mere three days. <cue the tears...for me, not them!> We took a short drive up to Saugatuck, MI which is only a 2.5 hour trip from Chicago. Yep, puppy, kids and all! Pretty painless in exchange for all that peace and quiet! Here is the house we stayed in. I am 100% sure we will be returning!
Summers in Chicago cannot beat. I don't care where you live, there's a tremendous energy this city gives off just three months a year. And today, I want to share some of the really cool things you can do to live your best Chicago Summer.
...great news, there is still SO much left to go! Ready? Let's do this!
I have a story for you. I've been trying to decide whether or not to share it but I think there is a good message and furthermore, I know my children know they are loved. So, here it goes...
Before school got out, I volunteered one morning to assist with Field Day.
What's the biggest challenge you face when it comes to family night? For me, it's undoubtedly finding a place that will make the entire family happy. Somewhere that will keep the kids occupied while feeding the hubby something with substance. Tough, right?
If you keep up with me on Instagram, you probably know that we have a new addition in the family and her name is Eloise! She's 13 lbs. of pure adoring affection.
The commentary I received ranged from "Oh my god, congrats - she is adorable.
What’s your typical state of mind? Is it stress? Is it calm? Is it busy? Is it bliss? Or, if you are like me, it could be a combination of all of the above taking place in a span of 24 hours. That’s more like motherhood, right?
For me, a good scent evokes calm at the end of a stressful day. Calm is so often associated with nature, too. Think citrus, bamboo or orchid. In fact, I’ll do you one better. Think Febreze ONE.
I have had my fair share of struggles with confidence. I can't blame it on a singular incident or my upbringing because I had an amazing childhood. It's just who I am. I think a lot of us struggle with being confident whether it's at work, with friends, our body image, parenting or even meeting new people. In fact, I would go so far as to say that it's in our female DNA. Never mind celebrities and postpartum mommas who are back down to their fighting weight in a matter of seconds. It's no wonder!
I come from two big families of White Sox fans. It's simply not an option to root for anyone else. With that said, it's only fitting that we raise our girls to love summer baseball games and the Chicago White Sox as much as we do.
When I look at a 60-minute increment, a 30-minute increment, hand to God, I often think how many things can I accomplish in that time frame? It sounds a little insane but as a busy, working mom - efficiency is everything. But efficiency does not mean you have to sacrifice fun. Making the ordinary tasks in life a fun activity is my role as a mother. Enter bath time!
