Light + Bright.
If there’s ever a time that I love to host parties at my house, it’s during the month of December. Gimme all the sparkle and all the glam...sweets help, too!
What’s a party without wine? Let’s be honest, nearly every one of my girlfriends prefers wine over anything else so having a strong inventory is paramount to a successful event. Having the right mix of whites, reds and sparkling is the obvious next step. That’s why I always start with Cavit.
I always have a wine rack of Cavit’s Pinot Grigio. This fresh, fruity white wine compliments some of the richer appetizers I often serve around this time of year. And most of my female guests prefer a drier, white wine. Your request is my command!
Here are some of my favorite food pairings with Cavit Pinot Grigio:
Chilled shrimp and cocktail sauce
Gorgeous cheese boards
Fresh oysters with capers and hard boiled egg
These are just a few of my favorite passed treats but there are so many more pairings that exist. I think the most common misconception is that certain wine verticals cannot be mixed with certain types of food. Go ahead, pair the full bodied reds with seafood or the steak with Rosé.
Cavit is here to make everyday occasions more approachable and cost effective. And shouldn’t life be about celebrating the mini milestones as well as the big ones? Shop Cavit at most major retailers.
Cheers to a fabulous holiday season in 2018
Disclosure: I was financially compensated for this post. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience.
While my wardrobe has decidedly taken a turn for neutrals; I still have my color moments and well, winter is still in the building if you live in Chicago. So…we back to sweaters. Does this green count as a neutral because I lurve it! I cannot tell you how many DMs and comments I received when I posted on IG so here are the Q+A’s:
There is nothing better than hearty chili on a freezing weekend in January. We got our dose of snow and we survived but that doesn’t mean that chili wasn’t on the docket since Friday morning. Believe it or not, this is my first batch of the winter. How this is so, I will never know. I guess that means we’ve officially slowed down a little since the holidays and it’s grand!
There is not one of my girlfriends who isn’t juggling a million balls in the air. Whether they are an entrepreneur, a creative, a FT mom…they all have one thing in common: they are HUSTLERS. These women manage their homes, their families, their businesses, feed everyone and still manage to look like a total fox at all times. That takes tremendous talent. Trust in this.
I consider myself somewhat of a Trader Joe’s connoisseur. I almost shop exclusively there and for many good reason. The primary being pricing, produce and unique products or dinner hacks that simplify my life during the work week. You can find healthy, gluten free, organic product at TJ’s no different than anywhere else.
By now, you know that Woodfield is my mall of choice. I’ve essentially grown up going there. I’ve seen the changes over the years and this year was no different. The roll out of the uber, sleek Dining Pavilion has made this mall a destination for families, date night, girl’s night and just about every other occasion.
What's the biggest challenge you face when it comes to family night? For me, it's undoubtedly finding a place that will make the entire family happy. Somewhere that will keep the kids occupied while feeding the hubby something with substance. Tough, right?
Let me start by saying that I am not a physician. Not even close. But I can say that for almost 37 years I struggled with food, digestion and the feeling it left me. I have a great relationship with food. I love it and I love to try new things BUT gluten and I were never meant to be friends and that epiphany hit roughly two years ago when I grew tired of the bloat, the gas, the bathroom issues and the overall appearance of looking like I was in my second trimester 24/7.
Today I am sharing a super simple recipe that you can whip up in minutes. I stumbled upon it by accident and within an hour we had a healthy recipe that was equally delicious. It's perfectly Fall with something to satisfy your sweet tooth which I am currently battling. <thank you Halloween...cough, cough>
Give it a spin and let me know what you think!
This recipe was shared with me by a dear friend after she learned that we had a successful apple picking adventure. It's simple, straightforward and deliciously Fall. Thank you Desa!
I asked my kids to participate with me but they were more interested in the finished product but the house smelled AMAZING!
