The best of Trader Joe's: Fall Haul
It’s no secret that I am an avid and loyal Trader Joes fan. It’s where I prefer to do the bulk of my shopping and I live for their new product launches. With that said, it’s been awhile since I’ve shared our family favorites and staples. Here to share the good, bad and just okay in a quick summary so that you can head out and try them while supplies last!
cinnamon bun spread: 3/5 stars. Olivia likes this on an English muffin or toast. Lola did not love. This is a season find. I am trying to think of more ways to incorporate it into breakfasts or baking.
beef-less ground beef: 5/5 stars. I am obsessed. We use it for weeknight tacos, stuffed peppers, pasta meat sauces. I don’t mess the real thing at all.
garden vegetable soup: 5/5 stars. V. low sodium and all the tastiness of a homemade soup. This is a great weekday lunch hack…all you need is gf crackers.
jicama wraps: 5/5 stars. I am the only one that likes these but who cares! I make cold cut lunch tacos or use leftovers to make a tostada. Great with tuna or just a veggie taco. It has the consistency of a crisp apple but they do spoil quickly.
habanero lime tortillas: 4/5 stars. I can’t eat these but I tried a corner and the taste was great. Jack liked these with breakfast eggs or for a regular taco night. The girls felt they were too spicy.
French vanilla coffee: 4/5 stars. I would continue to buy this because I love it but Jack felt it was a bit too sweet. I think it’s perfect. Toss in a dollop of frothy oat milk and you are in for a treat.
root vegetables fries: 4/5 stars. Be sure to oven roast the hell out of these and toss with a tbsp of oil, salt and pepper and you have a great weeknight side. I don’t love frozen veggies but if you doctor these up…they are delish.
autumnal harvest pasta sauce: 5/5 stars. I could drink this stuff. I use with veggie pasta. It’s a hearty sauce but god, so so good. I don’t know what else to say.
apple fruit snacks: 5/5 stars. We all love these. The only drag is that they don’t come in individual packets. Tart and sweet perfection.
organic tart cherries: 5/5 stars. Oh. my. god. I love these. Unfortunately my IBS does not so it’s a sacrifice. Sooooo tart but a delicious, healthy snack. I wish my kids liked these. I am the only one.
everything but the bagel gluten free crackers: 5/5 stars. I am obsessed. All he goodness of EBTB seasoning in a gf cracker. I dip them in soups, dips or eat as a side with my lunch salad. Run!
dry rosé cider: 1/5 stars. Garbage, bleck! I used the rest for work photo shoots. It’s just too sweet.
jackfruit cakes: 2/5 stars. Healthy and mimics a crab cake but not very flavorful. Definitely needs a sauce. I don’t think I would purchase again.
sweet potato gnocchi: 4/5 stars. I am not a huge sweet potato lover but this is a great dinner hack. Only use a bit of avocado oil and pan sear so they get toasty brown. We like ours with hot sauce or a dollop of greek yogurt.
That’s the latest? What have you tried from TJ’s that I am missing? Leave a note in the comments!
Hi friends! I am testing out a new series after lamenting and crowd sourcing my struggle to deliver healthy, wholesome meals to my family given our new back-to-school schedule. Yo girl is sick of tacos on Tuesdays and we have something every day of the week. I will be living in my car!
