I want to thank each of you for sending positive vibes and prayers after reading yesterday's post. Yesterday was extremely difficult and today proves to be a continuation but I am in search of the small signs from our dog, Lucy. She is resting in heaven with all of our favorite loved ones and her suffering is no longer...which is ultimately the most important thing.
Still, I miss her greatly. The things that used to frustrate me...I now crave. It's funny how that works. Yet another reminder to never take anything for granted.
On a sartorial note, the basics were about all I could muster up this week. And sometimes that just works. That and hoping for more trench weather. Am I right?
And in case you're wondering about my bag turned clutch...yes, you need this. I use it for work, kids and play. Larger than life clutches just work for this working girl.
These coral pumps tho. They were such a style steal and I've had them for years. Proof that hanging onto your favorites pays off. Because even on the gloomiest of days, color makes everything better.

I remember reading fashion mags growing up and elite celebrities, style mavens, socialites and models would share their one key closet staple which was typically a classic, white button down shirt or a strong, tailored blazer. And I remember thinking to myself as I rolled my eyes, "How boring." Fast forward 20 years later and I have become that girl.
There's something about these trousers that made me want to have them. It's that cummerbund belt that ratcheted up the coolness factor for me...something I was on the hunt for given my disdain for denim after a long winter. Or is it an obi belt? I am not sure but I'm loving the interesting detail.
You can't take the city out of the girl. It may be Sprummer here in Chicago but black will always be a wardrobe staple in my closet.
I've managed to hang onto these faux leather shorts for nearly a decade and I am so glad I did.
T-minus two days before the big 4-0 and our long awaited trip to New Orleans. I'd like to pretend I've not a care in the world but the truth of the matter is that I have a ten mile long list of items to check off that fluctuate between work, groceries, manicures and most importantly, my littles!
The return of track pants has got to be one of the most welcome fashion trends to hit my closet. Now they can be dressy or for the weekends. I just love them and this particular pair is high waisted making them just a bit more "extra".
I got 99 problems and Spring ain't one of 'em. This is Day 2 of glorious weather and it feels like the biggest gift. Windows open, kids playing in the yard and long after-dinner walks. We've been waiting a long time for this and I think the Midwest deserves this.
I am digging these flared pants in a major way. Not only are they completely slimming but the color is so rich and saturated. Kind of unexpected, too!
I swear it was 70 degrees recently. And this, my friends, is the perfect outfit to transition into Spring; ideally for work. I bought it at my girlfriend's boutique - Sanems - and she advised that I could wear it with tights in the winter but I haven't been that brave. I do picture textured, black tights with booties though. Definitely going to file that one in the back of my brain.
I haven't been able to bring myself to write three blog posts lately because I've just been so spent. Last week was brutal. The ideal of being creative on demand was not even remotely interesting to me but this week is a new week. Ever have one of those? I suppose I was due.
When I first put this top on, my husband said I looked somewhat like a pirate. Yes, I was totally flattered. And honestly, I kinda get that the sleeves evoke pirate vibes but the more I rotated this top into my wardrobe...the more I love it. I am a sucker for white tops. You can never have enough!
