Fashion should be fun. I’ve been so uninspired lately. I have to tell you. Casual items - my wish list is long. Dressier options - not so much. The most welcome piece I added to my closet was this sassy little black dress by Christina Karin. A long time friend, working momma and ridiculously talented Chicago designer who just happened to open her flagship store in the Windy City. Upon attending the opening, I saw it on the rack and it was love at first sight. Throw on some flats, sneakers or heels and this dress could easily go from day to night in a pinch. I also love this dress and this dress, too!

Most of all, I love a fresh take on a classic and that’s exactly what this dress accomplishes and it looks and feels luxe without the heavy price tag. Would I invest more in some of the dressier options on her website? 100%, hands down. The quality and craftsmanship are fantastic. If you haven’t shopped her site before…now you have all the more reason to!

Spring is a time for new beginnings. And there are so many in comparison to last year’s Spring. While much of the world continues to be on the mend from such a tumultuous year, I continue to feel optimistic that better times are ahead. A year later…happier dresses, happier times. We’re seeing more vaccinations, less mask mandates, more in-person get-togethers and overall, a heck of a lot more joy. This Spring is so very different then Spring 2020 and I am grateful for that.

…and just to prove how extra I can be, I paired this ensemble with a houndstooth tote. A bit much? Perhaps. My coat is on super sale so grab it now! I’ve been wanting one for years and this oversized version fit the bill. It’s all about the details. The ruched sleeves, the oversized lapel and the large-scale pattern. I will never tire of houndstooth. This is a print for all generations.
