Quarantine Treat: Miracle No Knead Bread
The secret’s out: you can make your own delicious “no knead” bread at home using only 4 simple ingredients. Curious how to cook up this delicious dough? I first learned about this from my friend, Erica who got the recipe from A Pinch of Yum. Proof that there really is such a thing as social media influence.
Read below and caution: follow the directions exactly as they are written. Do no deviate!
What you’ll need:
3 cups of flour
1.5 tsp salt
1.5 cup of water
1/2 tsp yeast
Steps:
In a bowl, whisk 3 cups of flour, 1.5 tsp salt, and 1/2 tsp of yeast together until mixed. Stir in 1.5 cups of water until a chunky, thick dough forms. Cover the bowl with a plastic wrap and let it rest for 12-18 hours at room temperature.
Preheat oven to 450. Put a Dutch oven in the oven for about 30 minutes to heat. Then, gently scrape the dough out onto a well-floured surface and shape it into a ball. With flour on the outside, set on a piece of parchment.
Lift the dough and parchment together into the pan so the parchment lines the bottom of the hot pan. Bake, covered for 30 min. Remove the cover and bake another 10-15 minutes to get the exterior nice and golden brown + crispy.
For quarantine cooking inspo, I highly recommend checking out Pinch of Yum. They have so many delicious and easy recipes to try during this time!
Here’s what I can tell you. I’ve made a loaf two weeks in a row and it is gone in roughly three days. It’s best enjoyed right out of the oven with a dab of plant butter. My kids crave it and they can join in on the fun because it’s easy to make. Plus, what a great skill to have, right?
Make this! You don’t need anything fancy. You just need time and that is something we all have right now. Enjoy the steamy goodness that awaits your kitchen; you won’t regret it!
Hi friends! I am testing out a new series after lamenting and crowd sourcing my struggle to deliver healthy, wholesome meals to my family given our new back-to-school schedule. Yo girl is sick of tacos on Tuesdays and we have something every day of the week. I will be living in my car!
