In recent years, I've discovered that it's not about the gift or the pampering. If yesterday's post wasn't an indicator that I am not the spa type, read here. For me, it's about spending the day and having an experience with my family with a side of "me" time. Two hours seems glorious! As a matter of fact, this year when my husband asked me what I'd like to do...it took me awhile to decide. And then I had an epiphany...weather permitting, of course. This year we are heading to the Lincoln Park Conservatory and Zoo to explore completed with a taco picnic from one of my favorite taquerias. Simple? Yes. But simple sounds really good to me given the chaos of work and life. Tacos it is!

The Deets:
Your guests can choose between appetizers such as thinly-sliced smoked salmon served with capers and pickled red onions or crisp fried green tomatoes served with fresh lump crab. Additionally, guests can then select from a range of delicious offerings for their main course, including lobster quiche, pan-seared steak and eggs, shrimp and grits, or Alaskan King Crab omelet with three citrus hollandaise. Conclude your Mother’s Day celebration on a high note with one of Eddie V’s decadent dessert choices, such as Banana Foster Cake with Butter Pecan Ice Cream or fresh seasonal berries with freshly baked cookies. Brunch will be accompanied by the restaurant’s award-winning wine list of over 300 wine selections, as well as special cocktails such as mimosas, Bellinis and Bloody Mary’s.
The winner will be selected on Thursday, 5/11/17 at which point Eddie V’s will contact the winner to confirm their Mother’s Day Jazz Brunch reservation.

Last week I had the pleasure of visiting the newly renovated Sears in Oak Brook. This brand has undergone so many different changes so to see the unveiling was exciting as this mass retailer has made a humongous effort to stay current, on trend and approachable. The icing on the proverbial cake was undoubtedly the appearance of Jaclyn Smith and her clothing collection which was formerly only housed at Kmart. Seeing the style maven in person was such a pleasure. More on that later!
