Daddy/Daughter Dance - An evening in Paris.
Friday marked the kiddos' Second Annual Daddy/Daughter Dance. AKA: a chance for mom to get her nails done and order in sushi. Magic!
To no one's surprise, I had to get a couple snaps of my crew all decked out. Who can deny the magic of holiday decorations and your fam gussied up in front of the tree? Specifically, I was pretty jazzed about Olivia's Pippa & Julie Swan Dress. Good choice, Liv! I love this dress for two reasons:
- It's actually a two-piece set. When she overheated from dancing, she simply removed the velour sweatshirt.
- It has a swan on it! Swans always evoke ballet memories for me hence I had to put her hair in a top knot. <still hanging onto that dream, yes I am!>
I should mention that, of course, I love Lola's couture as well but the highlight was being able to dress Liv in a dress again and her allegiance to our favorite dress website. <she went through a phase earlier this year in which she loathed dresses because she thought they made her look "uncool." Obviously I had to correct that.>

Here are some additional SWAN options as well:
I had to think long and hard about what to pack for this trip. And by this trip I am referring to London and Paris. This wasn’t going to be a Fashion Week trip although I did want to maintain some level of style. This was a family trip with much warmer temps than our Chicago. With that said, it’s been awhile since I’ve had to travel international which begs the question…what are my carry-on travel essentials?
I am on the tail end of a holiday weekend trip to Aspen with my girls. Why not? Conferences + President’s Day seemed like the perfect opportunity for me to embrace one of my New Year’s intentions: travel more + disconnect.
We set out on Valentine’s Day to visit our Chicago-turned-Aspen friends. After moving nearly six months ago and an open invite; I pounced on great airfare and what would be an awesome mom/daughter adventure.
It’s been a full circle week. What looked like a normal week of kids, work and typical weekly balance challenges took a complete nose dive as of Sunday night. The universe is mysterious but like any hard life event, I learned a little about myself and a lot about my tribe. It was the catalyst for this post as I was so moved by the kind actions and notes people shared with me.
I am pretty sure I’ve discovered family gold when it comes to weekend activities. You can thank me later. I first started sharing about CMX Cinemas on my IG and my DMs blew up so I wanted to share in a full blog post as well.
Visiting this luxurious movie theater parents might just award you Mom of the Year OR Wife of the Year so listen up because “going to the movies” just got a whole lot cooler.
Thanksgiving is slightly different for our family this year. In the best way possible...my brother is getting married. There is so much joy around the holidays that it would seem our family has a lot to celebrate in 2018 and we do!
Happy Fall! It really just hit me last night so I began to conjure up all the things I wanted to accomplish this year. Some I am happily revisiting and others are new to me…hello Bloody Mary Fest! It’s crazy to think we are rolling right into the holidays. The years do, indeed, fly by hence planning seasonal activities are a must for this working momma.
We just returned from a long weekend away with the kids and it was everything we didn't know we needed; not to mention perfect timing before school starts. I can't believe we have a mere three days. <cue the tears...for me, not them!> We took a short drive up to Saugatuck, MI which is only a 2.5 hour trip from Chicago. Yep, puppy, kids and all! Pretty painless in exchange for all that peace and quiet! Here is the house we stayed in. I am 100% sure we will be returning!
Summers in Chicago cannot beat. I don't care where you live, there's a tremendous energy this city gives off just three months a year. And today, I want to share some of the really cool things you can do to live your best Chicago Summer.
...great news, there is still SO much left to go! Ready? Let's do this!
I have a story for you. I've been trying to decide whether or not to share it but I think there is a good message and furthermore, I know my children know they are loved. So, here it goes...
Before school got out, I volunteered one morning to assist with Field Day.
What's the biggest challenge you face when it comes to family night? For me, it's undoubtedly finding a place that will make the entire family happy. Somewhere that will keep the kids occupied while feeding the hubby something with substance. Tough, right?
