Happy Friday my friends! I'm excited to partner up with a very special organization: Alex's Lemonade Stand. Childhood cancer is a beast and I can't imagine what some families endure...together with many Chicago influencers we are standing up to cancer to raise funds together at their annual culinary event complete with silent auction in Chicago's Fulton Market.

It all started with one little girl and one giant heart! She's is quite the little human being. Here is Alex's story:

Alex's Lemonade Stand!

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $140 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 690 pediatric cancer research projects nationally. Chicago, alone, has raised over $720,000 for childhood cancer research since inception in 2014!

A bit about the event: Chicago will feature renowned chefs from the Chicago area and across the country. Some of these chefs include Chopped judge Alex Guarnaschelli, James Beard award winner Jeff Michaud, and Chicago host chefs Tony Mantuano and Paul Kahan. In addition to the delicious food, the evening will also feature live and silent auctions and words from ALSF founder Alexandra “Alex” Scott’s parents, Liz and Jay Scott. All proceeds from the event will go toward funding research to end childhood cancer.

That is the best trait in a friend - better than 100 lattes or 1M pairs of Gucci heels. And well heeled, she is!

Meeting Kelly for the first time (probably about five years ago) was like inhaling a giant ray of sunlight. Immediately warm and welcoming. Those two words describe her perfectly and righteously so given that she heads public relations for the uber, luxe Langham Hotel right here in Chicago. She's cool as a cucumber. You will never see this girl sweat which is amazing as I am literally sweating all over the city with an average late time ranging anywhere from 15-20 minutes. Some girls just have it!
