I like a little drama in life. Not the people kind of drama but I like a little drama when it comes to dressing up. Enter this dress. Can you believe it is $15? Maybe you can but I think the sleeves make it look way more chic than the actual price tag.
Over the years, I have found that I need different LBDs for different reasons. Some are for meetings, some are for funerals and some are for date night. And my rule of thumb is that date night always includes a pop of pizzazz which generally takes shape by way of accessories. For this dress, the drama is pretty strong so I opted for a classic stiletto silhouette in a bright color. A conversation piece if you will.
I was feeling the part thanks to my new, super straight lob. It was pretty while it lasted. As I type this I have my hair in a ponytail and I am back in workout clothes. Oh the life!

Sometimes we need a second to celebrate the ordinary, everyday moments. You know, like hi-5'ing yourself for waking up and getting dressed. Or is that just me? In all seriousness, I often have these fleeting moments of gratitude and I think to myself...how can I express this in a thoughtful way to the people who matter most?
It's always bittersweet to approach the long Labor Day weekend. The unofficial close of summer. We're savoring the last of pool weather, popsicles and barbecue no different than you, I am sure.
I shutter to think what I wore to my first job out of school. More awkward than anything. A small budget while trying to navigate my personal style as a young 20-something. The reality is that I didn't figure out my personal style until really about two years ago and I am 40. This could also be largely attributed to the fact that my body has changed with birthing two humans. Regardless, I am comfortable in the skin I'm in and I know what works for my body. This doesn't mean that I don't have occasional missteps but on the whole, I've widdled my closet down to a pretty curated collection.
My fitness journey is a long one with some starts and stops along the way but now...I couldn't imagine life without it. Working out is that one moment every day where I get to materialize my thoughts, find some inner calm and get my endorphins going. Without it I am often crabby and antsy. Almost like a case of too much caffeine. Ironic how that works.
If I had to wear one outfit over and over again - this would be it. I'm obsessed with these budget friendly denim shorts; once you see the price you'll want some, too! Dressing them a zillion different ways has never been my problem either. From muscle tees to OTS tops to blazers as pictured above...I think you can create a new outfit with a simple swap of accessories.
Apparently when you purge your closet you can actually see all the items you have in it. Novel, right? As much as I used to be a trend follower, you'd be surprised how basic I've really become. Ridiculously basic. Perhaps a basic bitch. <wink, wink>
So here we are. Day 3 of me trying to complete a singular blog post this week and it's 9:20pm on Wednesday night. I am a writer by trade so you can imagine how incredibly unnerving this is for me. I used to crank out five posts a week with ease. And now...I am lucky if I manage two a week. Why? Well...
Summer Fridays are meant to be slightly lazy with a dash of "I woke up like this"...at least in my opinion. I've been wearing these leisure trousers all summer. With an elastic waist, it seems like the perfect solution to a Friday fashion conundrum or a Monday after a weekend full of indulging. Which, is kinda always the case for me. Hello Summer rosé!
It's hard to beat a LWD for summer. It's cool, feminine and crisp even on the days when you feel like you're melting. Melting is in full effect in these parts but I'm not mad at it because that means double the popsicles!
