A game of rose vs. thorn.
Celebrating the mini-wins has been one of the best things to come out of this pandemic. Every night we sit around the dinner table and play a game of rose vs. thorn. I can thank my husband for starting this tradition because it’s taught my children to appreciate the small things in life. A sunny day, an unexpected treat left at the front door, dinner on the table, a FaceTime call with a friend…you get the gist. What’s wonderful about this is that none of us talk about material things. We talk about our small moments of gratitude that we are experiencing everyday because we so badly miss human interaction, events, parties and some of the things we may have taken for granted in the past. That’s a good parenting moment, right?
Another mini-win? A wardrobe of relaxed basics ranging from sweats to neutral tops and denim. My feet are rejoicing from a stiletto break. Let me tell you!
On one particular 74 degree day, dare I say I felt a pep in my step as a warm breeze flew open the blinds in my office. That was all I needed to get up and take a walk. In the spirit of Spring, let me introduce you to J.Ing. If you are a minimalist spirit like me with a strong propensity towards blacks, white and neutrals…this is your new fashion destination. The pricing ranges from $60-$200 which makes it easy to thin your closets out in time for the new season. I’m stocking up on tops and easy dresses; my go-to’s for work and weekends. The collections are contemporary with interesting details like biased cuts on skirts, buttons, scalloping and more.
I have something for you! Use my code JINGJohanna20 for 20% off all regular priced items. The top I am wearing is a J.Ing piece that went into my shopping cart immediately. I love this modern take on the timeless reptile print because of the button down style. It’s lightweight and airy and would be equally cute with a black skirt, cut-offs or white denim with a colorful block heel. Hint: there’s a matching skirt, too!
With all this time on our hands, now is as good a time as any to get rid of anything you haven’t worn in the last six months and populate your wardrobe with more seasonal pieces that match your personality and aesthetic. I know I’ve hung onto specific pieces far too long. Thanks to Instagram LIVEs and Goodwill, having the perfect closet is not such a distant reality nor does it have to break the bank. Purge baby, purge!
Happy Monday!
Summer may be on our minds but I can promise you there are some deals you’ll never want to mess. Namely the Express sale as it’s a great outlet for basics. I’ve curated 21 must-have closet staples and while note all of them are ideal for summer temps, I can tell you that all of them are ideal for your wardrobe ranging from contour bodysuits to amazing, vegan leather dresses. There’s a nice mix of Spring blazers, jackets and denim, too. Every year I stock up on their bodysuits because they suck you in in all the right places. Grab these pieces while supplies last!
Happy shopping! xo
