Luxury splurges to last.

Johanna wearing a black oversized blazer, distressed denim, and black heels.

Since the creation of my Real vs. Steal series, I’ve always been on the hunt for comparable products that perform just as well as their high end counterparts. But then I failed to realize that I’ve never talked about the luxury splurges I actually HAVE saved for. As we all know, it can be hard to pull the trigger to spend on items with hefty price tags, but sometimes it has to be done. Some of my favorite closet staples have had astronomic prices, but I find myself reaching for them consistently. And if we’re talking CPW (cost-per-wear) I have DEFINITELY gotten the bang for my buck. As expensive as some of these choices are, they pair back perfectly with any outfit, and I can rely on them to complete any look.

If you’ve found yourself browsing the world wide web for designer pieces but don’t know if you’re ready to make your purchase yet, have no fear. Below you’ll find my favorite high-end pieces, that I’ve gotten repeated use out of and can definitely recommend to any hesitant shopper.

Get ready, get set, and mostly importantly- get ready to splurge.

1.Louboutin- So Kate Pump in Nude ($695)

This one is no surprise seeing that everyone under the sun has either a) has heard of the Louboutin brand or b) owns a pair. These heels are ones that are definitely worth the hype. The “So Kate” pump is a classic thin heel with a pointed toe, and of course, sports the signature red bottom. Available in black and nude, you can’t go wrong with either color choice. I find that the nude is the most versatile for me, and can be worn for a night out on the town, or for a busy day of meetings.

2. Gucci GG Marmont Leather Belt ($350)

This staple is a no-brainer. The Gucci Marmont leather belt is the perfect accessory whether you’re wearing it on a distressed pair of denim or daytime dress. I opted for the thinner belt because I think it looks more flattering and little less flashy. My favorite way to wear it is around my waist to jazz up any spring dress and accent the waist. Since it’s also in black, it can virtually be worn with any other color, so you don’t have to worry about transitioning it through seasons.

3. Anine Bing Frida Jean ($229)

So I know what you’re thinking- but before you judge, this jean purchase is 100% justified. As someone who loves denim, I can never have enough classic pairs to throw on and run out the door. Not only are jeans casual, but if done right, can be totally dressy with a blazer and my favorite graphic tee. (Read this post, here.) When I discovered Anine Bing jeans, I found my forever favorite straight leg denim. All of their styles are great, but my top pick is the Frida jean. This pant features a high rise, multi button closure and is snug in all the right places without being overly skinny.

4. YSL Crossbody ($1,250)

When I do choose to purchase designer handbags, I tend to make sure that I can get day-to-day wear out of them, otherwise I just overspent for them to sit on a shelf. I really like smaller crossbody bags that are in neutral colors (black, white, beige, etc). My holy grail bag has been the Saint Laurent LOU camera bag in the quilted leather. Not only do I know it matches everything, but it fits my phone, a pair of sunglasses, my wallet, and a few other essentials I need when running around with the kiddos. I purchased my crossbody in the white color, but for first time buyers, I strongly recommend going with a darker neutral so your denim doesn’t stain the soft leather if you’ll constantly be wearing it. For those that have quite the extensive collection and rotate bags, it’s always fun to add in more pops of color to your closet. Plus, this style comes in a million color options!

5. Ralph Lauren Leather Skinny Pant ($998)

Last but definitely not least on my list of splurges, is the skinny leather pant from Ralph Lauren. This is by far the most versatile bottom I own, and has lasted me a lifetime. Not only is the quality incredible, but they are extremely form fitting. In many instances, they’ve even replaced my go-to pair of jeans because they’re so modern and timeless. These leather pants can be styled with baggy tees or blouses, and are my go-to item for a sophisticated look. Despite there being many leather pants on the market, I find that the more affordable ones either don’t fit right making these pants definitely worth the spend.
