Beauty 411: organic shampoos to fall in love with!

As someone who colors their hair every four weeks, trust me when I say I am VERY particular about my haircare. Specifically shampoo. I have very fine hair and a lot of it. And let's face it, I'm not sure if these "color shampoos" really preserve and ensure longer-lasting color, however; I'm not about to roll the dice.

My color is expensive so extending it is a non-negotiable. Don't believe me? Ask my husband who is still astonished at the monthly expense that hits our bank statement. As an aside, we've been together five years so let this be a lesson that your husband will never get used to the costs associated with monthly beauty maintenance.

Back to shampoo; I've tried them all. Today's post is a departure from the expensive salon lines. Instead, let's talk about great products within reach - the kind you find at your grocery store. Here are my top give organic shampoos. (all available at Whole Foods):

Whole Foods 365 Lavender Shampoo is ideal for me for two reasons: 1. the bottles are huge and last forever 2. it's really great for oily hair. I often feel like I plow through shampoo because my husband dabbles on the expensive side at times. They have color friendly options as well. I think the smell is heavenly but then again, I love lavender.

If you're going for smell alone, I think Alba Shampoo has the market cornered. True to their tag line...for shiny happy hair...buy me! I swear my hair has a sheen when I use this product. Let me remind you how impossible that is to achieve after decades of bleach. Really challenging.

I love the honeydew and gardenia scents!

And we're back to lavender again! I love the Avalon collection as a whole; particularly their facial cleansers. Their Nourishing Lavender Shampoo is my favorite of all five shampoos I'm sharing today. It wipes out all the build up. My hair actually feels lighter after use.

As I mentioned, my hair is on the oily side so I can't go more than two days without washing. It's not a good scene.

Everyday Shampoo is a new-to-me brand. I first fell in love with their facial spray toner. Besides lavender, coconut is a close second as far as scent goes. Furthermore, do you see how huge those bottles are? Talk about bang for your buck!

And if you can't get away to a tropical island, do yourself a favor and pretend. It's worth the 15 minute shower escape.

I like Giovanni Shampoo because they keep it real. It's for limp, lifeless hair. Check and thank you very much! I have a feeling the Midwest pulls in the lion's share of profit for this line because hello, we always have a damn beanie or hood over our heads! Thanks a ton Mother Nature!

Really though, the scent is so-so but it does give some volume to my otherwise lifeless hair. The conditioner is really fab, too. Sometimes it's hard to get 2-for-2 when it comes to haircare but this collection is a sure thing for a really affordable price.

What do you want to hear about next week? Happy Friday!
