Guadalajara: Day 2

Johanna and her friends in Guadalajara

Everyday was a surprise in Guadalajara. And I mean that in every sense of the word. We'd wake up to beautiful breakfasts and come home to thoughtful gifts. It was unreal. Day 2 was just what the doctor ordered. Our itinerary included breakfast at Café Barra Café followed by a short trek to the landmark spa and boutique hotel, Hacienda El Carmen.

If you missed it, I am recapping my trip to Guadalajara...here is Day 1. My group included: JenJanetEricka, me, Corri and Helen

A morning in Guadalajara

Our morning kicked off with an intimate meal with two local jewelry designers (Makech) who shared their entrepreneurial story with us while we shopped and conversed like girlfriends do. As if we've known them for years! Both brands gifted us necklaces to take back as souvenirs and I have to tell you that I wear them constantly. They are so beautiful and unique.

After a delicious, vibrant meal filled with eggs, green juices and select pastries...we headed out to the historic Hacienda El Carmen. To say it was magnificent wouldn't do it enough justice. I am dead serious. It was something out of Great Expectations minus Miss Havisham.

21-suite hotel in Guadalajara

This 21-suite hotel has a complete spa with all the amenities and services plus a full restaurant, master suites and event space sitting upon 22 acres of land in pristine condition. The architecture harkens back to the 1500s and it's well preserved. They even have a greenhouse on the property that produces much of the restaurants organic cuisine. It's stunning.

Post hydrotherapy and full body massage - we were one group of happy, relaxed mommas. An utter treat!

Hacienda outdoor dining

A glimpse into Hacienda, their gorgeous outdoor restaurant complete with wine cellar.

Hacienda resturant

Both Helen and Corri served as the hired talent for capturing our day. These pictures almost do it justice and while they are extremely talented...the property is even more breathtaking in real life. Just look at the colors!

A photo of everyone's shoes in Guadalajara

It wouldn't be an influencer trip without a shoe shot. #amiright?

The grounds at the restaurant

The grounds are beyond stunning and so incredibly lush. It's like time warping to some spectacular movie set.

Tomatoes on the vine

Inside the greenhouse we noshed on tomatoes off the vine, peppers, cucumbers...it was an experience. When's the last time you did that and didn't wonder how many times your produce had been washed? <raises hand>

Peppers

After a truly relaxing day, we pampered and primped for a dinner at Alcalde. Courses of deliciousness were served as we laughed and recapped an awesome day completely catered to our interests: momma "me" time.

Alcalde is rated among Latin America's 50 best restaurants and scooped up the coveted "One to Watch" award. Highly recommend the octopus and do not skip dessert. Trust me when I tell you this.

The finalé? Drinks at Nativo with the girls where yet another surprise awaited us. Besides the amazing, custom cocktails they created for us, we were gifted these amazing, handcrafted backpacks by Theresa. Pics to follow but man, are they luxe. It was such a heartfelt gift and the owner could not have been more humble or genuine. I was completely moved by the generosity of Guadalajara. Especially when it seems our entire world has been turned upside down with violence and politics.

Wanna read more? I hope you do because Days 3 & 4 await! These posts are so labor intensive but so worth the recap because I get to relive all of the things that make me grateful for keeping up with this hobby and the people it has introduced me to. It has literally become my digital diary so thank you for reading!
