Round table: How do you maintain work/life balance?
I have a confession. I am struggling right now. Bet you can guess where this is going...
The days and nights are blending and I have no work/life balance. It's a bad scene. Mainly I think my husband suffers the brunt of it. {sorry, babe...I'm working on it} When work is over I am 100% dedicated to my children. That is until we put them down for bed. Then...it's back on the computer.
My husband even tried to enforce a new rule...no iPhones after 8:30pm. I failed miserably. It's not fair but to be honest - I don't feel like I have a choice. Big things are happening at work that require much of my energy. I am grateful for this job. To be employed. But, there has to be some separation and somehow I lost track of it all.
My former boss used to tell me that the world will not come to an end if you don't respond to that last email and I totally jumped on board with that notion. Sadly, it appears I suffer from amnesia because I forgot how freeing it can be to disconnect a little each day. When I am not working, I am creating my blog post(s) for the following day or looking for inspiration on Pinterest. Let's not get into social media. And then there's the girlies. Birthdays need to be planned, school needs to be registered for, big girl beds need to be acquired.
But to be fair, my husband is very much addicted to Candy Crush so let's call a spade, a spade...shall we?
So, I ask...how do you do it? Do you struggle like I do? Do you have a household rule?
