The Money Pit Series: Target Threshold for the win!
Get excited because the family room is finally complete! You can see the entire process here. All of that being said, we looked at our finished room and something was missing. I think they call it personality. Thankfully, Target launched their new line, Threshold, for Spring. We were gifted the opportunity to get our shop on and add some fresh touches to an almost finished mantle and reading corner. Thank you Target!
We gave our 80's mantle a fresh coat of white paint. Still, we needed some kind of "pop"! We decided to bring out the coral/poppy colors in our new rug and added these cool, vintage-looking vases. And because we love our wildlife, we thought the yarn animals would add that whimsical feel that each room in our house plays off of. We don't take ourselves too seriously.

You remember our sad reading corner, right? It's actually pretty cheery now! We replaced our outta-place lime accent table with a rustic side table which I love because it incorporates two mediums...wood and steel. The painted base also plays off the white mantle nicely. We gave our old lamp a new home and replaced it with this lamp base and shade. What's cool about the Threshold line is that everything is mix and match with really great color palettes. You can't go wrong...even if you're a novice like me.

And if you're concerned about choosing the right aesthetic for such an important room where you log hours and hours each year, you can breath easy. Their brand statement says it all:
"It's the right mix of classic and modern. An effortless elegance. Beautiful, yet affordable. Designed for a lifetime of housewarmings. It's everything you'll love about your home."
Well said, Target, well said. #threshold
