The Money Pit Series: family room facelift
We are switching gears from the powder room to our family room. As luck would have it, we have a fun sponsorship opportunity ahead hence it only seemed natural we redirect our efforts to the room we spend the most time in. Here are the before's:
If you remember this post, our mantle was originally stained a natural oak and while it was pretty...the one thing we noticed about our family room is how dark it is. Dark floors, dark TV stand, dark couch, dark ottoman. Too much! My husband primed and painted it a stark white to match the molding that he also repainted throughout the room.
We wanted to pull in that creamy, mossy, sage-y green without replicating the cool mint that is in the adjoining kitchen. So far we like "Grecian Green" by Benjamin Moore in the Aura line. It's the color all the way to the left. The other colors have too much blue or gray in them for our taste.
Last steps will include a bright rug. The current choices below - we think the poppy orange will break up the darkness and add a fun splash of color to the room.

It's quite the situation here, folks. The floors are staying because they used to be covered with that ugly, blue carpet you see in my outfit posts. That was ripped out and replaced with espresso floors, which we love. The couch was purchased over the summer and is a textured gray - that's staying, too. The accent pillows have a Greek key{ish} pattern incorporating a sage and cream palette hence the foundation for our wall color choices below.

Last but not least - accessories! My favorite! We ditched the baby swing and are slowly removing all the big items from this room. I'm seeking some storage, bright, cheery pieces for the new, white mantle, a new coffee table and a side table to replace the marbled one in the far left corner. We figure art will come later.
Follow along with me - it's gonna be a fun one! As always, I'd love to hear your feedback, too!
