Things that make me smile...

This week's "Things that make me smile" is brought to you by my gal, Erika, in NYC. I am fortunate that my job allows me to see her quite frequently. She is a girl after my own heart in that she ADORES anything beauty product related. I think you will get a kick out of her response to this series. Here is something that makes Erika smile...

"...what started out as somewhat of a crap TGIFriday at work, the gods smiled upon me and the day evolved into into a girl's dream come true!! Things significantly turned around after I filed my 2008 (oopsie I forgot) AND 2009 taxes in which I surprisingly recieved a nice lump sum from both years...Yippee! (I was a nervous wreck after trying to file myself, the number was skyrocketing into the wrong direction-eeeek.) So I filed through a professional and HURRAY, money money money. Sigh...relief

To continue on, I have a friend who works at a fabulous fashion and beauty PR company. We hadn't seen each other since last summer and had corresponded regarding a trip to the Hamptons for Memorial Day weekend. She invites me to stop by her office to say "hi." I happily oblige as it's always great to see her. What happened next is where the real whimsy takes place! I walk into their office and it is a girl's paradise! Walls covered with shades of peonies, candy jars everywhere and FASHION racks galore. I'm in awe. "You are the luckiest girl in the world to work here, my heart is fluttering" I say to her... She said, "come on let's go, I'll show you around, let's get a bag!" Hmmm...okay!

Imagine for a moment the closets of Vogue or Allure and every single fabulous girlie high end product stocked into rows and rows and rows of closets! Then imagine a supermarket spree and the person is racing to get as much into the cart as possible. I thought I was going to have a heart attack. As all my friends know I am a very qualified beauty product junkie, so this was on par with a near overdose! She proceeded to throw countless products of Stila, Guerlain, Givenchy, Havianas, Philosophy, Tigi Cashmere Hair products, and soo many glosses galore. Oh my!! I kept saying OMG, this is sooo unnecessary, however loving every second of it! To share the wealth I brought a bunch of product to work to share with all my girlies who love good swag as well (who doesn't really!?)

After leaving, I went and had a glass of sancerre, and prepared for a "blind date" setup with my dentist and four "new friends." All very nice people, and I love meeting new friends. We went to a Chinese buffet (which was my first) then we rocked it out to some karaoke (also a first). All in all, WONDERFUL day!! I went to sleep with a big, fat, tipsy smile on my face. XO"

Erika, your call filled with excitement about the beauty goods made me smile, you crazy girl. xoxo
