Intricate life and intricate dress.

Life is intricate and one dress does not fit all occasions. That was a major life lesson for me over the years. Some are flirty and some are for business. This is my “get down to business dress.” I found it at Vici, no longer available, but I’ve linked some fun alternatives if you like the cut and style. Regardless, if you like their price points, they have a myriad of lace options that are perfect for summer. Most of their clothes fit TTS for me which seems to be the consensus with most bloggers.

Summer strolls.

Summer speeds up and slows down all at the same time for me. Yes, there are endless activities, parties and sleepovers but I wouldn’t have it any other way. The “slow” usually hits right around July; specifically on the weekends. Lazy backyard BBQs, bike riding and a heavy dose of strolling. And when I say strolling…I really mean strolling. One of our favorite Saturday activities is to plan an event and a city lunch. This is where the strolling comes in. Walking the neighborhoods at our own pace is probably my single, most favorite pastime.

Staycation at the incredible Intercontinental.

The best part about any staycation is the ability to discover unknown gems in your very own backyard. That and a plush hotel bed make all the difference. It’s really not the extravagant, action packed weekends or events that my girls remember most but rather the low key moments when we are all together and unplugged.

4th of July Outfits: Star Spangled Glam.

If there’s one holiday I am fully supportive of coordinating outfits for - it’s the Fourth of July. Hands down. Every year I snag red, white and blue outfits from Target for the girls because they ride bikes in our hometown parade. <super Normal Rockwell, I know> And, undoubtedly, the temps are near 100+ so cool, comfortable pieces are the name of the game. Why I ride.

Fitness is a choice. In my 20’s I worked out to be skinny. In my 30’s I did it to to get more toned and work off stubborn baby weight. In my 40’s I do it to find joy. Fitness sparks joy for me. It has become much more of a mental game then a scale game for me. Let me be clear though, I am no different than any other woman. I work out to look good and fit in my clothes, too. Every woman does. I also work out so that I can indulge. It’s a crazy cycle of balance but more than anything I do it for my own sanity.

New summer uniform: the romper.

After our March trip across the pond, I became passionate about some of the new labels I stumbled upon. Conditions Apply was one of them; also carried at Anthropologie. Known for their whimsical prints and strong use of color, it was just the brand my closet needed to take a break from my uniform B&W routine. And while you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, I can vow that the two pieces I now own will become permanent fixtures in my closet.

Summer basics.

We are at the point in the summer, although it hasn’t “officially hit” where the basics become the wardrobe staples that we reach for each and every morning.. A solid pair of cut offs, the most perfectly worn in sandals, light knits, denim jackets and more. Toss in some air-dry hair and you are really speaking my language. This is essentially my summer playlist.
