The Money Pit Series: It's back + we're tackling the master bedroom!

Gettin' real with ya folks. Today you're going to see a bunch of "before's." We're nearing the end of our master bedroom renovation so I thought I would give you an update. It's been ages since we took on a huge project. And for good reason...it's a mess and this fashionista can't stand disorder.

Welcome to the next edition of "The Money Pit Series"!

We finally splurged and bought an adult bedroom set that actually matches. Novel idea. We have a huge master bedroom hence we deliberated for quite some time before we landed on this greige set. Yes, I said greige.

Our focal point was the bed. I had been wanting a tufted, linen bed for as long as I can remember. Bedding came next. I wanted something neutral...not too masculine and not too feminine. We both liked the border frame duvet set from Serena and Lily.

After 12 very expensive Benjamin Moore samples that ranged from a "purple unicorn party" to a "dark plum" we settled on "Iced Lavender" which I've grown to really love because we get so much sunlight in the room. Plus it compliments the greys...or should I say greiges...so nicely.

I think the real star of the show was our nightstands. The top drawer rolls out to a charging station which we love after we've sat together in silence whilst gazing at our phones in the dark for hours. It's a pretty rad feature and they have ample storage.

We completed the look with this chest, which needs severe styling, and a tufted bench for lacing up the ol' kickers. I've always wanted a bench at the base of my bed.

Next up - a closet system for our master closet. We chose ClosetWorks. The entire system was installed in four hours which really impressed me. They have great follow-up, too!

Those shelves? That, my friends, is for my shoes. Just rows of shoe shelves. It was a top priority for me. I can hang my long dresses now, too and Jack has a built-in dresser and storage for his suits and ties. It's dreamy...truly. It's the most organized room in our home which says quite a bit.

Can't wait to share the finished product with you!

What's left?:

  • new window treatments
  • new carpeting
  • more art; particularly above the headboard
  • reupholster the love seats in our sitting room
  • find a chaise lounge, reading lamp and side table
